A "CamCarpet" is basically a specially distorted carpet that is placed near the goals in soccer stadiums, for example. Advertising and logos are shown on these carpets, which only appear to be "straight" due to the viewing point and angle of the camera in the stadium. The closer you get to this, the more the carpet advertising appears crooked and slanted when, for example, players run across the carpet in the close-up. But as soon as the perspective is back from the camera's point of view, the advertisement looks normal again. The viewer's eye is visually deceived.

Cam Carpets are used by various companies, including sponsors such as betting providers, to present themselves prominently in the stadium. This form of 3D advertising is often offered in combination with perimeter advertising and other advertising spaces.

The advantages of Cam Carpets are that they can be displayed frequently during a soccer match and sponsors get high visibility, both during the match and in post-match reports. They do not directly interfere with players as there are no collisions as with perimeter advertising.
